In this article, discover all the appropriate ways to maintain the wooden floor. The types of timber for flooring and the differences in their maintenance.
CLEANING
Laminate:the regular cleaning of the floor is done first by using a vacuum cleaner and then with a dry parquet or semi-dry mop with plain water.
Thorough general cleaning of the floor (once-twice a month or more depending on usage) is always done using a vacuum cleaner first, then a mop with water and a mild laminate cleaner (ph neutral, soap based and not chlorine).
Solid and semi-solid wooden floors pre-finished with varnish or special oil:the same rules apply as for laminates, the difference is that on floors that have been used for floor timber, we can also use products that enhance the natural gloss of varnished floors at the end of the cleaning.
Floors pre-finished with special oil need special attention and care.
We should intervene immediately, using the cleaner in a concentrated form, on the local stains so that they are not absorbed by the porosity of the floor.
Also, after three (3) years, the floor must be refinished with a special oil.
PREVENTION – CORRECTION
Any local abrasions or bumps on the floors are repaired with special markers on both laminate and wooden floors.
Alternatively, special wax putties can be used on wooden floors.
In the areas of the house that show frequent traffic and friction (entrance to the house, hall, office chairs with wheels) mats and special plastic protectors should be placed respectively, so as to avoid abrasions on the floor.
Also, protective "felts" should be placed on the legs of furniture and heavy appliances.
