Έχουν μεγαλύτερη αντοχή και διάρκεια ζωής σε σχέση με τa κλασικά γύψινα πηχάκια και τις παραδοσιακές γύψινες κορνίζες. Σημαντικό πλεονέκτημά τους αποτελεί η εύκολη τοποθέτησή τους. Για την τοποθέτησή τους δεν απαιτείται άτομο με ιδιαίτερες γνώσεις και τεχνικές ικανότητες. Είναι απλές στην τοποθέτηση γιατί τις κολλάμε στον τοίχο ή στο ταβάνι με ειδική κόλλα συγκόλλησης πολυστερίνης 300ml ή ακρυλικό σιλικονούχο στόκο 450gr. Τα υλικά συγκόλλησης υπάρχουν διαθέσιμα σε φύσιγγες και τα χρησιμοποιούμε με ένα απλό πιστόλι σιλικόνης.

Frames fromMDF

A special and distinct category are the decorative ceiling frames produced byMDF (medium density fibreboard). Οι κορνίζες που είναι επενδεδυμένες με καπλαμά ξύλου, είναι κατάλληλες για λουστράρισμα στο φυσικό τους χρώμα ή σε κάποια πιο σκούρα απόχρωση καθώς και σε βαφές ντεκαπέ κλπ.

MDF frames are also available covered with melamine film (laminate type). They offer an appearance whose final surface looks like imitation wood or are available in a single color eg grey, blue, stainless steel etc.

Οι κορνίζες αυτές αποτελούν τελικό προϊόν και δεν χρειάζονται κάποια επιπλέον βαφή. Οι κορνίζες από MDF γυμνό επιλέγονται κυρίως για να βαφούν με λάκα, με ριπολίνη κλπ. και χρησιμοποιούνται κυρίως σε έπιπλα κουζίνας. Οι ημικυκλικές κορνίζες – πομπέ όπως και οι φαρδιές κορνίζες – μετώπες μπαίνουν στο άνω μέρος των ντουλαπιών.
